Underground Leak Detection
Underground leak detection in Arizona finds a break in a buried water line, a main or a service line before it washes out your yard, undermines a slab or doubles your bill. LeakLab locates it from the surface, marks the spot, and hands you a written report the same day.

Underground Leak Detection in Arizona
A buried line in Arizona can leak for months without ever making a puddle. Caliche and compacted base carry water sideways, so it surfaces somewhere else or drains away entirely, and the only symptom is a bill that climbed on its own.
Underground leak detection is how you find it without opening the yard. We pressure test to prove the line is losing water, then narrow it from the surface with acoustic listening, correlation, tracer gas and thermal imaging. One access hole, in the right place.
Buried water supply lines
The run between the meter and the house, under gravel, turf, pavers or concrete.
Water mains and service lines
Breaks between the street and the meter, or just past it, where pressure is highest.
Lines under driveways and patios
Located from the surface, so the concrete gets cut once and in one place.
Pool, spa and irrigation supply runs
Return, suction and mainline breaks feeding the loss from a separate system. See pool leak detection.
Lines that have gone under the building
Where the run is already beneath the slab, the work becomes slab leak detection.
Signs You Need Underground Water Leak Detection
Any one of these is worth a test. Two together usually means a line is already losing water.
A bill that climbed on its own
Same habits, higher bill, two months running.
The meter turns with everything off
The clearest single test there is.
Pressure dropped everywhere
Not one fixture. The whole property.
Soft or soggy ground in dry weather
Especially along the line from the meter.
One green patch in a dry yard
Grass over a leak grows better than the rest.
Soil or gravel washing to one spot
Water moving underground takes fines with it.
Running water you cannot find
Audible at the wall or the slab, never visible.
New cracks or settlement in concrete
Water under a slab moves the base beneath it.
How Underground Leak Detection Works Without Digging
Water loss evaluation
Meter readings and bill history tell us how much water is going per day, and whether the loss is big enough to isolate.
Isolate the line
We shut and test one run at a time, so the loss gets pinned to a specific line rather than to the property in general.
Pressure test
The suspect line is pressurised and held. It either holds and is cleared, or it drops and gets measured.
Acoustic listening and correlation
Ground microphones and a correlator pick the escape up through soil, paving and concrete, and narrow it to a short span.
Tracer gas and thermal confirmation
Where sound will not carry, gas and heat signature confirm the spot. Two methods, never one guess.
Mark, photograph, report
The spot is marked on the surface and photographed, and the written report goes out the same day.
Water Main Leak Detection and Service Line Breaks
Water main leak detection is the hardest version of this job and the most expensive to get wrong. The line is deep, under full pressure, and usually beneath something nobody wants to dig up, so a main can lose water for weeks without surfacing.
We locate from the surface, then work out whether the failure sits before or after the meter. That answer decides who is responsible for the repair, which is why we put it in writing rather than saying it at the door.
Main water line leak detection on residential and commercial lots
Long runs, shared meters and fire loops all behave the same way: isolate, pressure test, correlate, mark. On a commercial site the same sequence covers the whole property, which is what our commercial leak detection page describes.
Underground Water Line Repair and Water Main Leak Repair
Once the spot is marked, the repair is small. Underground water line repair on a located leak is one access hole, one section of pipe and one backfill, not a trench across the property.
We can repair what we find, or hand the marked location and the report to the plumber you already use. Water main leak repair on a pressurised line gets scheduled so the water is off for the shortest time possible.
Why locating first makes the repair cheaper
Restoration is usually the biggest line on an underground job. Concrete, pavers, turf and irrigation cost more to put back than the pipe costs to fix, so the size of the hole is the size of the bill.
Every Underground Leak Detection Job Is Guaranteed for Two Years
We only diagnose. LeakLab is not a plumber or a landscaper locating leaks between repair jobs, so a vague answer never turns into more billable work for us. Being right is the product.
If we mark a spot and the leak is not there, we come back and re-diagnose it at no charge for two full years.

I highly recommend using an honest company like this one, Brandon and I were texting pictures of my system and the issues and he was able to point me in the correct direction. I made a mistake that no real pool guy would have made. Instead of lying to me and charging me anything he just called out what he saw wrong. I am not say just call him just for advice, he is a business however his conversation relieved so much stress. We just had concrete poured and coated in 16k worth of rubber coating all around the pool. We thought we were going to break into the concrete since we dug up the lines all the way to the edge of the concrete without finding any leaks. Brandon is a real person understanding all the hard work I had put in and just pointed me in the right direction to change everything. If you are having any pool leaking issues and issues with your pool system call LeakLab AZ and Brandon will help you out.Posted on Google![]()

Great service! Brandon was very professional and fixed everything up so fast, even over the holidays. Hopefully the pool pump doesn’t have another issue but if it does, I will definitely be calling him again.

Underground Leak Detection FAQs
How do I find an underground water leak?
Shut every fixture and watch the water meter. If it still turns, a line between the meter and the house is losing water. From there it takes pressure testing to prove which line, and acoustic or tracer gas equipment to place the spot. The meter test you can do yourself in five minutes.
Is the leak on my side of the meter or the city's side?
That is one of the first things we establish, because it decides who pays. A failure between the street and the meter usually belongs to the utility. Past the meter it is yours. The written report states which side the located leak falls on.
Do you repair the leak as well as find it?
Yes, on the lines we are licensed to work on, or you can take the marked location and the report to the plumber you already use. Either way you are not paying twice to have the leak found.
Can you find an underground leak without digging up the yard?
Yes. That is the whole point of the equipment. We listen for the escape through soil, paving and concrete from the surface, confirm it with a second method, and mark one spot. Nothing gets opened until there is a reason to open it.
How much does underground leak detection cost in Arizona?
Estimates are free. Detection is a flat diagnostic fee, and it depends on how many lines have to be isolated and how large the search area is. Call (602) 622-8390 and describe the property and we will tell you what it takes.
